Peasant life of the past - a world we have lost
All the farms and houses are original buildings, which have been measured and dismantled at their original locations, before being reconstructed at the museum. You can visit more than 50 buildings from different areas of Denmark, as well as from southern Sweden, Schleswig and the Faroe islands - all former Danish possessions. Come and see the differences in regional architecture and how rural building traditions evolved over three centruries between 1650 and 1950.
Enjoy the unique buildings displaying different types of timber construction and skilled craftsmanship, and roofs thatched with straw, seaweed or heather. Step inside and see the interiors with their traditional, handcrafted furniture, details and decoration.
