Opening times and admission

The museum is open:

1 April - 31 May:                 10.00 - 16.00
1 June - 31 August:              10.00 - 17.00
1 September - 31 October:   10.00 - 16.00

Closed Mondays, except for 21 April, 23 June (open in the evening), 14 July and 13 October.

 

Admission:

There is free admission to the museum and fortress area during normal opening hours.

Please note! There is an entrance fee during the Viking Festival in July.

  • Adults: 100 kroner, Children (under the age of 18): 30 kroner.

Other information

Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on a lead and owners are requested to clean up after them.

Feeding or in any way worrying the sheep is not permitted.

You can stay overnight in the camping area north of the museum entrance. The charge for this is 25 kroner per person. During museum opening hours visitors should use the entrance via the museum shop, where you can pay for your stay.

In the camping season there is access to water and toilet facilities in the Long House. Outside museum opening hours access is available via the gate to the left of the museum building. Follow the path over the river up to the Long House.

Hand carts cannot be borrowed during the period when the Viking Festival takes place.

Please note that the camping area is not available during the annual Viking Festival in week 29.
