Imported metal kettles from The Pre-Roman Iron Age

The silver cauldron from Gundestrup is the finest and most visually rich metal vessels from Pre-Roman Iron Age. But other foreign metal vessels found their way to Denmark. Etruscan, Celtic and Greek kettles and buckets were desired at home, where they were sacrificed in bogs or used as urns at funerals in the last two centuries before the birth of Christ. The exotic cauldron shows that there was created a network of contacts from the north and out to distant parts of Europe where the Celts, Greeks, Etruscans, Thracians and later the mighty Roman Empire was important actors on the political scene.
