Other wagons from Denmark’s Iron Age

The two carriages from Dejbjerg are not unique. Parts from similar vehicles are known from rich magnates’ graves at Kraghede, Vendsyssel and Langå on Funen, where they were part of the grave goods of the deceased. Carriage parts have also been found in recent excavations of settlement sites at Fredbjerg in northern Jutland and Dankirke in southern Jutland. In several bogs and lakes wagon wheels have been found, as well as other carriage parts from the Iron Age. They were perhaps laid in the water to keep them wet and supple.
