Flaying knife or netting needle?

One of the objects that Stone Age people often chose to decorate was the so-called flaying knife or netting needle. They have been given different names, because there is disagreement over what they were used for. Some believe that they were used as needles in the production and maintenance of fishing nets. Others think that they were used as knives for skinning animals.
