Shamanism

Sickness, accidents and bad luck in hunting could have a severe effect on a Stone Age family. Incised patterns on men’s weapons and the pendants of women and children show the hunters’attempts to ward off negative forces or ‘evil eyes’ by the use of magic.

As in other hunting cultures, people believed that behind the visible world was “another world” populated by invisible forces and spirits. These spirits of dead animals and humans had great power, and could be influenced by shamans.
