What did people eat in the Maglemosian period?

If a Stone Age hunter brought down an aurochs, several hundred kilos of meat were secured for the family. However, aurochs was not the only animal that was eaten in the Maglemosian period. At some of the Stone Age settlements bones have been found from red deer, elk, wild boar, roe deer, brown bear, fox, badger, pine marten, wild cat, squirrel, beaver, hare and different types of bird. Hunters also fished, especially for pike. The people of the Stone Age therefore had a varied diet, of which aurochs made up only a small part.
