Get an introduction to the Danish War Museum

Step into the war: Blood, sweat and defeat

We will take you on an exciting historical journey through the past 500 years of Denmark’s wars.

Learn more about Denmark’s defences during the Cold War, see the model of Frederik IIIs ship of magnificence ‘Sophia Amalia’ and hear the story about what happened to the Danish soldiers, when the armoured vehicle Eagle IV hit an Improvised Explosive Device in Afghanistan.

Join our talented guides and learn more about the past’s famous battles against Sweden and England, all the way onwards to the wars of today, where Danish soldiers fight for Denmark’s interests, far away from our own shores. Get the explanation as to how and why the machine gun changed warfare forever. Also, hear the story of why Copenhagen became the first scene of the world’s first terror attack.

All these stories, and more, are the starting point in an exclusive selection of the museum’s authentic objects. The guided tour gives you an overlook of the museum and inspires you to explore the rest of the objects and stories further after the guided tour.
