Bjarne Grønnow’s doctoral thesis (dr.phil.) in Arctic archaeology from 2017 deals with the first people in Greenland and the Eastern Arctic. He has written a large number of articles and books based on four decades of archaeological expeditions to Greenland. His research provides new insights and knowledge on the development of the Arctic societies through 4.500 years and on how cultural encounters and changes in climate and environment have influenced the life conditions of the Inuit. He was conferred the Westerby-price and the Julius Bomholt Price of the Ministry of Culture and the Order of the Knighthood of Dannebrog (2009). Since 2013, Bjarne Grønnow has been member of The Royal Danish Society of Science and Letters.
