David Gregory researches into the preservation of underwater cultural heritage from Stone Age settlements to shipwrecks. He uses a number of methods incl. diving, underwater drones, marine geophysical methods and analysis of materials and the environment in situ on the seabed as well as in the laboratory. He has published over 150 scientific and popular articles on the subject and won the Europa Nostra award for research in 2016 in connection with the EU project SASMAP (www.sasmap.eu) which he was PI of. He has been an adjunct professor at SDU's marine archeology education (2013-2019) and am an adjunct professor at Ulster University and a visiting researcher at SEAWAR museum, Jutland.
