Mette Randrup Midtgaard is a wall painting conservator at the National Museum of Denmark with a PhD in Conservation. She is responsible for the National Museum’s investigative studies of lime-based wall paintings in Danish churches, including condition assessment of the wall paintings and setting out guidelines for their conservation. She has expertise in the analyses of medieval wall paintings and the plaster/ mortar and limewash that constitute the support for the wall paintings. She has published research articles on medieval lime mortar and its properties in journals such as the Journal of Architectural Conservation and Studies in Conservation. She has worked as a wall painting conservator for more than 10 years, working mainly with lime-based wall paintings, fresco paintings and oil paintings on plaster.
