New team members for Moving Museums Through Play
01.04.2025
Moving Museums Through Play is a research and dissemination program that explores how play can enrich museum experiences. To strengthen this work across the museum’s visitor sites, two researchers and a co-designer have been hired.

Ea Willumsen: Ea is employed as a postdoc in Modern Times and World Cultures.
Ea is an audience researcher and has, among other things, studied how Danes’ perceptions of cultural history are influenced by pop culture. She has previously worked at DR Media Research, where she investigated Danes’ media habits, focusing on youth and news, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.
She holds a PhD in Game Studies and analyzed 99 digital games from 1978 to 2018 in her dissertation to better understand how players can interact with virtual environments through various objects.

Stefanie Steinbeck: Stefanie is also a postdoc in Modern Times and World Cultures.
Stefanie is an anthropologist with a PhD from Copenhagen Business School, where she wrote about children’s affective museum experiences at the Workers’ Museum.
She has worked across various public institutions on teaching, citizen involvement, method development, and communication in different research and development projects.

Katrine Hesseldahl: Katrine is employed as a co-designer in Exhibition Design and Project Management.
Katrine has a background as an industrial designer, educated at the Royal Danish Academy and the Royal College of Art in London. In previous roles, she has worked on accessible exhibition design at the Wellcome Collection and on designing future modes of transport for Hyundai Kia.
Most recently, she completed a PhD in sustainable design at the Royal College of Art.
Together with their colleagues at the National Museum and the program’s partners, they will contribute to developing new perspectives on playful museum experiences for all age groups at the National Museum’s visitor sites.
We look forward to the collaboration.
“Moving Museums Through Play” is supported by The LEGO Foundation and developed in collaboration with Design School Kolding, Lab for Play & Design.
