National Museum Conservation department

The National Museum's Conservation department is Scandinavia’s largest conservation institution employing a large range of specialists. We are based in the attractive protected buildings at Brede Works.

Apart from our work with the National Museum’s collections, we also carry out restoration and conservation jobs for external customers. In close collaboration with the customer we can arrange conservation and restoration. We often carry out large jobs requiring carefully planned solutions, which often involve several of our conservation workshops.

The department frequently organises international symposia and conferences on cultural heritage conservation research, strategies and methodologies. Learn more about upcoming conferences
