The helmets of the Bronze Age
The Viksø helmets are the only ones of their kind found in southern Scandinavia. However, a 32 cm long horn from Grevinge in Odsherred is known, which parallels the horns of the Viksø helmets. Other helmets, apart from these two complete examples, must also have existed. The use of helmets was not unknown in Denmark during the Bronze Age. This is demonstrated by the small bronze figures from Grevensvænge, which include two kneeling men wearing helmets. Images of helmet-clad men are also known from Swedish rock carvings.
