Wooden vessels
The wooden spoon from the bog Christiansholms Mose in northern Zealand is very well preserved.

Wooden vessels

Not all Stone Age vessels were made of clay. In 1876 various wooden objects of Neolithic date were found in the bog Christiansholms Mose near Copenhagen, where half of a wooden bowl turned from alder wood and a scoop of elm were found. The shape was almost the same as that of the ceramic vessels of the period.  A spoon carved in oak was also found in this bog. We must assume that wood was a popular material for vessels. If more has not been found, it is because wood is a more easily degradable material than pottery.
