Information for visitors to the National Museum

Can I use public transportation?

Yes, the museum is very accessible via public transportation. You can take the Metro to Gammel Strand, or take the 10 minute walk from Copenhagen Central Station.

Bus 31, 37 and 2A stops at Stormbroen/Nationalmuseet, which is a 2 minute walk from the main entrance.

Can I get something to eat and drink?

Yes, there are two possibilities. You can bring along your own food and eat it in our lunch room. If the weather is good you can also enjoy your food in our garden.

Can I bring baggage with me?

Rucksacks and large bags cannot be taken into the exhibitions. Lockers are therefore available, in which you can leave your luggage. The lockers are free of charge and uses a 4 digit combination code of your choice.

Can I bring a pram or pushchair to the museum?

Unfortunately you cannot bring your own pram or pushchair into the exhibitions. Instead you can borrow a lock for your pram or pushchair, and then borrow one of our pushchairs to take around the museum. If your baby is too young to be able to sit up, you can place a carrycot or baby sleeping bag in the pushchair. Baby carriers can also be borrowed from the Information Desk.

There are changing tables in the toilets behind the Information Desk.

Can I visit the museum in a wheelchair?

Yes, the whole museum is accessible with a wheelchair. It is also possible to borrow wheelchairs and walking frames.

Is there Internet access at the museum?

Yes there is. There is free access to the network NATMUS_Guest.

Can I take photos and record videos?

Yes, you can take photos and record video. If you hashtag them with #natmus we can find them on social media.

When you take photographs and record video please remember:

- The photographs or videos must be for private use (for example holiday photos, photos that you share on the Internet etc.)

- You should use a normal camera (without a tripod) with a normal flash.

- Our exhibited objects must not be damaged.

- Do not annoy other museum guests.

- The directions of our staff must be followed.

Professional photography for the purpose of commercial publication can be arranged with the permission of the museum’s Centre for Strategy, Communication and Administration, which determines the charge for the photographs. This can be arranged by contacting Karen Torp-Pedersen
