Hama-projektet: Ordinary Lives in Extraordinary Times

The research project Ordinary Lives in Extraordinary Times: A New View of the Earliest Urban Societies in Bronze Age Syria investigates the development of early cities in Bronze Age Syria, focusing on the ancient city of Hama. Excavations by Danish archaeologists in 1931-38 have shown that Hama was an important ritual and economic hub in ancient Western Syria. At the National Museum of Denmark, we are proud to house a unique collection of artefacts from the daily lives of people in Hama.

You can read more about the ancient city of Hama and its history here.

The Hama Project is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (projekt 1024-00107B).
