Christian IV and Self-Representation

Christian IV and Self-Representation

Christian IV was a master of self-representation. During this course we will work with Christian IVs wars and how a defeat is turned into victory, how clothing can reflect power, and how Christian IVs own self-representation has influenced the perception we have of him today.

During the course we will use different objects and the students can try copies of clothing.

Goals of learning:

  • The pupil will learn through working with Christian IV and his wars that history is created and that the same event and person can be deliberately portrayed differently in different periods of time.
  • The pupil can interpret Christian IVs own and others’ intention with different representations of Christian IV and his wars.
