Traces of the occupation can be seen all around outside the museum’s walls – you just need to look closely enough.

We cover all the great stories within walking distance of the museum’s doors. The sinking of several vessel of the Danish fleet as the policy of cooperation collapses; the firefight between the Germans and Danish officers at Amalienborg Palace; the Danish Jews' flight to Sweden, acts of sabotage carried out by the resistance movement and German counter terror.

Join our experienced guides on a journey through time back to occupied Copenhagen and hear, see and feel the pulse of the dramatic stories which unfolded over five fateful years of Nazi occupation in Denmark.

The area around Amalienborg Palace is home to buildings, busts and even bullet holes which bear testament to this tumultuous period in the history of Copenhagen.
In magnificent squares, shadowy courtyards and hidden corners of busy city streets, we will shake fresh life into stories of the Equestrian King, deported Jews, the underground press, acts of sabotage and the brutal force of the German occupying power.

We will follow in the footsteps of the Copenhageners of the 1940s who lived under conditions which are hard to fathom today, uncovering the traces of their reality which can still be seen in the city today and learning the history behind some of the most important memorials in the area.
