Conventions and Comic Market

Cosplayers are performers that move between body and image and dreams and reality. At fan conventions they meet other young people dressed as ninjas and Disney princesses, manga basketball stars and giant robots in a whirlwind of fan manga booths, video game zones, and stalls with Japanese merchandise. They compete on stage and make new friends that cosplay the same series.

Comiket

Comiket (Comic Market) is one of Japan’s biggest, fan-run popular culture events. It was founded in 1975, and is held twice a year in Tokyo. The keyword is participation. Here the agenda is set by productive fans, not the industry. This is also true of Danish conventions. But what are the differences? Form your own opinion here.
